Aviva Magnus-Dotan

Aviva Magnus Dotan has lived in Kibbutz Maagan Michael, on the Mediterranean shore since 1975. As a person who lives in the midst of nature, she is well aware of the dilemmas related to the topic of environmental preservation and economic development and is involved in the environmental discussions that the kibbutz is deeply engaged in. Fish appear as a recurring theme in much of her work. In a series of oil paintings she creates a richly vibrant imaginary underwater world, inspired largely by her childhood memories when the Mediterranean was more plentiful and less affected by environmental pollutants; those long gone days when the sea was the boss and the host, and we were mere occasional visitors
